Free tools for pilots and travellers

Built by Matt, training captain and examiner

Alongside the books I build a few free tools for the questions I get asked most. They are independent, they are free to use, and each one shows where its facts come from. I check them against the official source and put the date on the page, so you can see how recent they are. They are not official services and they are not affiliated with any airline or airport.

HandLuggageChecker

Will your cabin bag fit? Enter your bag size and see which airlines allow it, with every size and weight taken from the airline's own website. It also has liquids rules for airports in the UK, Europe and elsewhere (for example whether you still need the 100 ml bag), each quoting the airport's own security page and the date it was checked.

TravelRightsChecker

Was your flight delayed or cancelled? A calculator and plain guides to UK261 and EU261 flight compensation: what you can claim, when the airline can refuse, and how to claim and escalate yourself without a claims company. The amounts and steps come from the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the EU's Your Europe pages.

GeoKnow

Sixteen free daily games about flights, airports, aircraft and countries, with three difficulties a day plus unlimited play. No sign-up.
